Bloggers Get Blushed Event

While in Nigeria, I attended the Bloggers Get Blushed event in Lagos, which turned out to be great and fun. I honestly didn't know what to expect and at the same time, I was so nervous how people were going to receive me. Of course, being shy makes it even harder; but when I got there, I was beyond impressed. Nneka of Neks2u did a great job in organizing the event and Blush Beauty Salon was super beautiful--special thanks for having me :)

Recapping

I am finally home and safe; but I am super tired and jetlagged. My original flight was supposed to leave last Friday, but due to the labor strike, my flight got canceled and rescheduled with a new flight and route. Instead of going through Houston, my rescheduled flight went through Germany and NY--the longest flight. I slept so much that I got tired of sleeping. I think I need my own private jet; who wants to buy one for me? :) LOL

Right now, I am trying to adjust back to the time zone here because Nigeria is 6 hours ahead. At the same time, I am getting things ready for my last semester as a graduate...phewwwww!

Out In Lagos

Hey beautiful people! How is your day going? I am officially on my way back to the airport and heading back to the States. I had an awesome time here despite my flight being rescheduled due to the labor strike.  I went almost everywhere that I wanted to go to and all has been fun filled with interesting experiences. 

Went out with some family friends to the beach by Lekki in Lagos. They were also having some sort of a reunion thing for my friend's school: Covenant University. It was just nice setting with our friends and enjoying the company of the other visitors at the event.

Bucket Purse

Thank you all for the sweet comments from the last post. I am still in Nigeria enjoying my last week here. There is so much going on here today. Many people are protesting the removal of fuel [gas] subsidy--almost everything was shut down today including inbound and outbound flights within Nigeria.

The economy and standard of living is pretty bad and I continue to pray for the betterment of the country.

The outfit was taken while I was still in Enugu. I went out with my friends Kasie, Chukky, and Frank for the after party of the wedding, which was fun. I got to see a lot of friends and even some people from here in DMV area. What better way to rejoice with the new couple, old friends, chicken suya, and music.

I had to take these pictures prior to leaving because I didn't want to carry my bulky EOS Cannon Camera :)

Where it all started...

After arriving Lagos, Nigeria, I had to go to the East to visit some family members and friends. I was also planning to attend a wedding with my friend; but thanks to random delaying of flights, I didn't make it to the wedding on time. When I got to the wedding, it was pretty much over. At least I tried to honor the invite. Later in the evening, the young couples had a party for all their young friends, which I attended with my friend Kasie. It was fun seeing a lot of people that I have known since elementary school.

While in Enugu, I got introduced to 'Barcelos' waffle ice-cream, I became addicted especially since the weather is pretty hot. Now I am on the hunt for where to get one in Lagos. Thanks to my twitter follower, I am heading to Chocolate factory tomorrow :)

Airport Ready

I am currently at my next stop Houston waiting on my delayed flight to Nigeria. I am already tired even though I still have about 11 hours again to go. At the moment, I will keep blogging, browsing, and eating ;)

On another note, when it comes to traveling, it doesn't mean you have to compromise your style. There are ways to travel in style and still look stylish, comfortable, and chic. For me, traveling doesn't mean sweat pants. 

On some occasions, I love traveling in heels, wedges or flats, but at the same time, I still keep it comfortable. Like today, I went with my Zara brogues, black ankle denim pants, a simple v-neck white shirt from Forever21, Zara Mustard blazer and my H&M leopard scarf &amp and hat. I always travel with a scarf--it is like my comfort blanket. Again, I always wear or have a hat to camouflage my messy hair after a long flight like this one :)

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas holiday and you got all or most items on your wish list.
I hope to get my internet working asap to be able to blog again before the end of the week because I have a lot of pictures from my Christmas dinner to Christmas outfit to post :)

Reconnecting With Origin

I did not even know it was October, let alone that it was October 1st, which is Nigerian Independence's day. Happy Belated 51st birthday to my lovely country, Nigerian! On that note, today’s outfit is made with an African fabric called Ankara.

Normally for weddings, the couples pick a fabric that they love and they have close friends wearing the fabric in different style for the wedding known as “Asoebi”. There were more than 20 bride's friends in this same fabric, but in different styles. During the reception, everyone wearing the above fabric accompanied the couple as they danced into the reception. 

For me, I decided that I wanted to have a 70's appeal wearing bell bottoms. I sketched the style and had my tailor sew the outfit. Again, I wanted something to contrast the busy fabric, but still keeping the 70's style in mind, so I came up with the idea of making a bustier with a metallic fabric.  I paired the whole outfit with my Zara metallic pumps. This fall, I am all about metallic!

On another note, my exam went well. Thank you all for the wishes. Now, I have to pack for my mini trip to Atlanta for a conference. I will love to meet some readers and bloggers in ATL. Send me an email, maybe we can grab dinner and drinks on Friday after my conference.

Within my reality

This week has been a busy week with school. Its like one case, paper, or assignments after another. I am really looking forward to summer break and a vacation.

Since the weather was warm a few days ago, I handed my camera to my friend Chioma to be my photographer for the day since hubby was at work.  It was fun playing photo shoot with her.

On another note, since the constant change in weather, I like incorporating boots to my outfits and there are great variety of women's boots that add a touch of color to an outfit.  You should check them out at www.very.co.uk for some great boots.

Now, I have to go back to my reality called school work, but I am so sleepy :)
