Lady In Red

This is my first official post in 2012... :)

Hope everyone had a lovely holiday and the new year started off on a good note. I am still enjoying my visit here in Nigeria. It is a full house here because most family members from Canada and London are all in town; this means that the house is never dull. My husband's 20months old niece Maya is definitely entertaining everyone with her few words :) 

For this outfit, I decided to keep the accessories minimal. One thing some people fail to do is knowing when to go loud with accessories and when to keep it at a minimum.

On another note, being in Nigeria and driving through developed and undeveloped areas has brought a lot of happy & sad moments. One of the days that I was out with a friend, I came across this area seeing some overworked and malnourished kids brought tears to my eyes. I love that country, but I believe that a lot needs to be done and I plan in doing my own share; but it not what I can do alone. Lets make a difference please!

Sequins

Another week is almost over and Christmas is just around the corner. As I prepare for Christmas, wrapping gifts for friends and family, I can't wait to board the 12+ hours flight to visit my homeland Nigeria after almost 4 years. I am super excited and nervous at the same time--don't know why the mixed emotions.

My luggages are so full that I will need extra manpower just to zip it up. I confess, I am an "over-packer". I could barely decide what clothes or shoes to bring along with me knowing that I can't walk back to my closet to switch my clothes. Then again, one good thing is that I packed a lot of summer clothes--yes, I can't wait to escape this cold, windy weather in the East coast. ;)

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. I started my weekend with a Christmas dinner at my school, which included faculty and students. On Saturday, I had a lunch date with my coworkers, which went well. One of my coworkers told me that he had to go through my blog to figure out what to get me for Christmas and he did a good job because I am loving my Zara gift card :)  On Sunday after church, my husband and I went to see "Mission Impossible"--Love it!

Fallen leaves

After a long weekend I was so ready to start a new week afresh and ready to go; but late last night, I started feeling a bit under the weather. I don't like feeling sick and I can't afford to be sick or lazy since I have few weeks of school left--meaning that I have lots to do. I know I can be  a bit hard on myself; therefore, right now, I am trying to keep up to my vitamins and squeeze in some rest here and there.

Anyway, onto my weekend; I spent my Saturday afternoon meeting with my classmates for group work and then I got home to get ready for a friend's surprise going away gathering, which was so much fun. I enjoy small gatherings with friends and games and this event was definitely a great one.

Sunday was spent with my husband. Normally, we use Sunday for movies, dinner dates, and relaxation, which is exactly what we did.

A flash of Sin City

During this trip, I barely had my camera with me at all times because it could not fit in my bag. I need to find a fancy bag that can be both for night out and a camera bag; so any bag creator or designer who is interested in a collaboration, contact me ;)

In all, Vegas was fun. There was never a dull moment or lack of sightings. I saw so many crazy costumes that I wish I had my camera with me at those moments--I guess, what happens in Vegas, stayed in Vegas :)

Black & Yellow

Welcome to the month of November! Hope everyone had an amazing weekend! For those that celebrated Halloween, what did you wear?  I spent my weekend with mixing work and fun in Vegas. As a first time Vegas guest, I am really enjoying the city--so many lights and all types of uniques things and individuals. My visit here is almost over in a day. My experience here includes the gondola ride at The Venetian and also Circus de Soleil show, which was interesting. 

Again, since it was halloween weekend, everyone here went above and beyond with their halloween costumes. People were in costumes from the dusk to dawn whether they were walking down the street or just gambling...lots of uniques and interesting costumes.

On the other hand, I wore this outfit before I left. I have been into leather lately, so I had to dig up this leather skirt that I bought last year--combing two of my current obsessions: leather and statement necklace. You can always make a simple out standout by adding a bold necklace. I am always on the hunt for bold, big, and unique pieces.

How is everyone doing? It is midweek and this means that the weekend is around the corner. The week seems to be going pretty fast and not as stressful as the prior week though I have the same work load. On the other hand, maybe I am a bit excited that I get to relax on this trip.

I wore this outfit on a night out with my hubby. I was going for a simple look while allowing the accessories and my shoes to make a statement. From the scarf to the shoes, you will see how much I love animal prints. Animal prints or leopard prints are more than a trend to me. They always add an edgy look to an outfit.

Shades of blue

My weekend was spent getting some rest and finishing up my school work for the week. After a sleepless week, on Saturday, I slept most of the day before heading out to dinner with my husband. After dinner, I decided to get a manicure, pedicure and my eyebrows done. I went in with full eyebrows but I came out with barely none--thanks to lady at the nail salon...smh! At least I have MAC espresso matte and bangs as cover up LOL!

On Sunday, I was able to make one of my favorite soup "Okra soup"- I haven't had it in a while. I ended up eating so much that night I could barely get up from my seat. I am a self proclaimed foodie, but the good thing is that I don't really eat a lot of junk food. :)

On another note, this is another busy week for me both at work and school, but the good thing is that I am looking forward to some fun time with my hubby & friends/coworkers in Vegas. I am a Vegas newbie, so I am so looking forward to some fun after work in the Sin City. 

Next week is halloween...do you guys have your costumes ready? I have an idea what my costume will be, but you will just have to wait and see. :)
