Green + Polka Dots

Hello beautiful people! Happy Monday! How is everyone doing today? I feel so energized because I had a day off and got the opportunity to rest, sleep in and still finished majority of my school work--Amen to that :) 

This winter has been really mild for us here in Maryland. I hope I didn't jinx it. I can't wait for spring to begin. I am really looking forward to another vacation. I can't say how much I love traveling--something about airports, planes, and suitcases just cheers me up. Until then, I can keep looking at this beautiful picture of my dream vacation Bali on my Facebook page here :)

Tribal Print

This week is going by so fast. This is my last week here and it looks like my flight will be delayed due to the prolonged labor strike. For now, I am crossing my fingers and hoping things get resolved.

In reference to my outfit, I have had the fabric for a while before deciding to make something with it. I decided to combine two different fabrics to create this short. Knowing the temperature here, it is hard to wear anything, but shorts - comfy.

Timber walls

I especially like this shadowbox montage on the wall.

A 1960's East Sussex house was filled with natural wood (reclaimed) and other eco materials. I like homes that look like they could blend in with the outdoors. Love the timber wall behind the bed and the wood-covered kitchen drawers. Also liking the vintage 60's, California vibe in the rooms. (From Living etc. January 2011)

conversion experience

   

This home and work space is a converted church, built in 1867, in Wiltshire, in the south of England. Love the beautiful exterior, and the fact that it doesn't anymore look like a church on the outside. Inside, there are a couple of areas- the bathroom with the huge glass window, for example-  that look quite modern for an old church conversion. In the main room, they've retained the main "churchy" feature, which is the balcony. Cool! (photos: Antony Crolla, World of Interiors May 2010)

I thought this was an eye-catching use of some old matchboxes.  Seeing these colorful boxes nailed onto the simple grid made me want to start gathering matchboxes of my own to make some kind of art work.  Anthropologie's creative installations always inspire me and the London Regent Street store has some fantastic displays.

More eclectic nests from Milk Deco

These photos are from the Gramercy Park, New York City home of Carin van der Donk, owner of Sons and Daughters a now-closed East Village shop.
**About that interesting ceiling chandelier in the first photo- it is a special order from Lindsey Adelman using hand-blown bulbs. If you like that, you simply must check out her work here. Her lights are amazing!





These four photos are from the home of Laurence Gautier and Gabrielle Soyer, in a suburb of Paris. They fill their house with souvenirs from their flea markes and antique store hunts. The article says the house is just not big enough to hold all their finds! Hmmm, I know how that feels, although my house is much smaller.





This set of five photos above is from a French visual artist's home in Tangier. Yto Barrada grew up in Tangier and says she has her grandmother's sense of style in that she loves "antique flowers and lace, collecting dresses and fabrics, accumulating and juxtaposing."
And I thought this little old-fashioned sleeper couch was interesting. The photos was from a home in Utrecht. (all photos from Milk Deco Issue No.3, Oct. 2009)
